Michel Bouchereau, Bordeaux

Michel was introduced to us by Paul Uhart at Ch. Lavanau. In Paul's opinion Michel is one of the best wine-makers producing entry level claret. That's a good enough recommendation for us, and proved entirely correct.

Michel produces two wines which we offer. His staple claret is Ch. Grand Terrier des Eyriaux, made in the proper old fashioned way using both Petit Verdot and Malbec, grapes which sadly are often ignored by modern wine-makers, but are so important to giving claret that depth and style. He then produces an AOC St. Emilion which is modestly describes to us as his 'hobby'. The family own a 1/2 hectare plot just up from Figeac and Michel produces Ch. Tour Cormeil which never ceases to punch above its weight. A silver medal winner last year (2007) at the International Wine Challenge, this wine perfectly illustrates what we are trying to achieve at Edward Parker Wines. Michel only sells 75 cases to the UK, and we are delighted to get them all.
