We have put together here a few favourites of the team for your enjoyment.

• Edward Parker

  Jean Comyn Rosé NV (£24.95) - I am a great fan of champagne and everything that Emmanuel Comyn produces is excellent. His rosé has just enough fruit to make it alluring, but it remains elegant and subtle.

  Volnay Cuvée Marie, Domaine Vincent Perrin 2009 (£19.95)  – When we tasting this in November 2010 as part of the 2009 Offer selection, it blew me away. Not only was it everything I look for in a red Burgundy, with elegance, ripe fruit and complexity, but its price will stop you in your tracks.

  As most of you will be fully aware, my heart lies in part in Provence with it’s Rosé, in part in Bordeaux with its fabulous Clarets, in part in Burgundy with its great selection of Reds and Whites and last but not least at Pol Roger.

  The St Andre range of Rosés are the “Perfect Provencal Pinks”. The basic St Andre and the wonderful Magali. Topped off with their top of the range Vielle Vignes, all are available in Magnums. Add to that their brand new Sparkling Pink “Atmosphere”. Perfect for all occasions and so cool.

  When it comes to Bordeaux, we seem to find new friends every year. Partially due to our Annual visits to their En Primeur Tasting. We now have a firm new BF in Chris James, who has guided me to finding, amongst others, Chateau Dauphine and their 2^nd wine Delphis. From Fronsac, these two are wonderful examples of the modern easy to approach Clarets. Made for relatively early drinking, they are both delicious.

  We have a wonderful selection of Burgundies. My favourites being The Romanin Range. Macon–Solutre, Macon-Fuisse and the superb Pouilly-Fuisse. Simply the best range at their price levels.

  Last but not least, my old Friends at Pol Roger. Virtually the last family owned Grand Marque, and still the best. The care and passion that goes into their wine making is unique. From their Brut Tradition, via their Vintages, up to the Summit of their Winston Churchill is a route I love to follow.  

• William Bannister

  Don’t be put off by the absence of any claret. These are just five wines which have really shone for me since I started here. They are all totally delicious and will have you reaching for the bottle quite frequently, but watch out for the Encierra!

  Gosset Brabant Grand Cru NV, ‘Very fresh but with excellent fruit and all the elegance you expect from a ‘proper’ champagne. Makes many of the grande marques look rather inadequate.

  Bourgogne Blanc, Sylvain Dussort 2008, ‘Wonderful balance and richness and the fruit lasts very well. Tasted blind this could easily pass for a £30 Meursault…bargain!’

  Julienas, Domaine Manoir du Carra 2009, ‘2009 was the best Beaujolais vintage since 1947 and you can get in on the action for just over a tenner. This is serious Beaujolais and you can have it magnums, ideal!

  Vosne-Romanee Aux Reas, Domaine Alain Guyard 2008, ‘For me this commune is the pick of the Cotes de Nuits. Guyard has managed to combine power and finesse with a wonderful purity of fruit absolutely perfectly.

  Encierra Vineyard Reserve, 2007, ‘This is the best South American wine I have ever tasted. However at a modest 15% it is definitely a wine for food and the need to be seated! The power and complexity of this wine is extraordinary and it will only get better.
