People tend to hide away during the early months of the year, and even more so now that we are officially in a recession. But we all still need something decent to drink! The Viognier is a wonderful rich aroma wine, perfect for this time of the year, and the red, in the style of Côte Rôtie, is made for the snowy days! Very classic Viognier on the nose, the white peach is backed by aromatic flowers. There is lots of richness on the palate, and the freshness on the mid-palate balances the lushness of the fruit. The oak is integrated and very restrained.

 

Made in the style of some Côte Rôtie, a percentage of Viognier grapes are macerated with the Syrah. Black cherry is very much in evidence, enlivened by pepper and spice. The rounded ripe tannins ensure that the mid palate is lush, packed with powerful fruit. The Viognier shows towards the back and this combined with a red fruit influence lightens and lengthens the finish. 91 DS points.
