Wine of the Month – Kotuku Pinot Noir, Marlborough 2006 – 10% Offer

To kick things off, we have picked a blinder to brighten up the dismal month of February. A wine which is light and easy – perfect for every day drinking.

With the Burgundy 2006 campaign well underway, this wine is a good example of a New World Pinot Noir proving that it can stand its ground against the traditional Burgundians. We know the wines from Kotuku well. They are made by Josh Scott, son of Allan Scott. The Sauvignon Blanc is an excellent entry level wine into New Zealand where prices seem to be rising ever higher, often too high, in our opinion. The Pinot Noir is always in short supply, and has historically been very popular with our customers.

It has floral raspberries and cranberries come through on the nose, with lovely red fruits, balanced acidity and silky tannins with an underlying smoky nuance on the palate. This is an elegant wine, great without food but also goes exceptionally well with meaty fish such as grilled tuna.
